The Zambia Association of Paediatric Surgeons (ZAPS) in conjunction with University Teaching Hospital, Muhimbili National Hospital and American College of Surgeons is scheduled to hold a 2-day workshop on the management of gastroschisis from 26th to 27th June, 2026.
The workshop will bring together paediatric surgeons, neonatologists and neonatal nurses from University Teaching Hospital, Levy Mwanawasa University Teaching Hospital, Arthur Davison Children’s Hospital and Maina Soko Military Hospital, the centers managing gastroschisis in the country.
The workshop has been necessitated by the persistent poor outcomes which continue to be recorded in patients with gastroschisis in the country. Discussions will center around how best we can improve the care of these patients to improve outcomes. The meeting will conclude with the formulation of national guidelines for the management of gastroschisis.
